‘Mighty Oaks from Little Acorns Grow’ is a response to the ISTD brief, ‘How Sustainable is it?’. The publication investigates green spaces as a sustainable initiative and how they can benefit the planet and people.

The publication is made of 5 manageable sections, an ‘Intro’ section, 3 main sections; ‘Problem’, ‘Planet’, ‘People’ and an ‘Outro’.
The sections are deliberately short to be easily comprehended. They each focus on a specific element which helps to display the information concisely. The format of the publication takes inspiration from the “circular economy”. It can be read like a book, and also displayed upright and fanned out to make a circular statement piece.

I decided it was an important focus that the chosen paper stock of the publication was fully sustainable and the amount of paper waste from finishing and cutting was kept to a minimum. One B1 paper can fit 8 spreads, so when printed double sided it makes a 16-page booklet.

The offcuts from this sheet, which would usually be recycled or thrown away, are turned into the tip-ins that are distributed throughout the publication.
